Thirds into the Queen Mary Cup final!
The Third XI deservedly won their Queen Mary Cup semi-final away to Premier Division Eden Park in a dramatic match which went all the way to penalties. Matt Eves gave the Guild a 25th minute lead which in a game of few chances looked to have won it, but a stop-start second half led to eight minutes of injury time, in the sixth of which Eden Park headed home a wide free kick. Jack Randall's 20-yarder soon into extra time was cancelled out by a close range finish before the extra time interval, and then Eden Park had the chance to take the lead with a penalty but the spot kick was missed. Into penalties we went, then, and Billy Cooper was the hero, saving the first three Eden Park kicks. Well-taken efforts from FOBG gave Paul Eddleston's side the win, and a place in the final against either Agenda or Old Roan, both of whom are in the Premier Division, but should hold no fears for a side in such great form as the Thirds.
