Match Report

A 3rd straight win by the Fourths, with a record 7-1 score plus a record 4 jugs consumed in the Bar. (I'll have to phone Roy Castle).

On a cold Saturday there was no rush to leave the Club, so myself, Nick Harvey and (Lucky) Roger Lee watched the 1.35 at Aintree. Losing tickets despatched in the bin we set off for the ground. We started well but after two minutes we were one down, in the old days this would signal an avalanche of goals for the opposition, but in the current Fourths there's a growing confidence and self belief spreading through the team.

Just on half time we deservedly equalised when Nick Harvey scored after a good run by Andy Beston.

In the second half it was all one way traffic and with some neat football and hardwork, we soon put the game out of reach - 3 goals for Dean in his first game up front assisted by Nigel "Super Vet" Hanington who grabbed a fine brace. Richard Cawker had a good game with much improved control and passing (training does work). Dave Clifford, Paul Chambers, Ian Coles and Andy Beston all played well passing out of defence, rather than just hoofing and hoping, while Stumpy and Nick played a short passing game in midfield to make the opposition look average. Graeme Moir and Kevin Farrell also did their bit to keep the team spirit high.

My only complaint is the size of the kit. As usual me and Stumpy had our customary Sumo wrestling bout for the limited fat boys' kit and with Paul Chambers and Andy Beston also in contention the situation is getting serious. What with the rumours that Nick Waller, Paul Ed. plus closet fatties Toby Harlow and Dave Bandell are all heading for the Fourths! Will Bodge and Neil please purchase plenty of Extra Large when the new shirts become available. It's true! Farnborough Footballers are getting Fatter, but as many women will tell you size isn't important (I should know). So come on you closet fatties get
out of the closet, joint the Fourths and be proud to be stout.
