Sevenoaks Cup
1st round
By Paul Tanton
In recent years, we have possibly the worst record of any Club who are 'invited' to play in the Sevenoaks Charity Cup. This summer I questioned why bothering entering a Cup where we usually we draw a semi-professional Club first round. If we get thrashed by teams like Oakwood and Sevenoaks Town, then teams like Kemsing must lose 30 - 0. Although this should'nt take anything away from how well we played and how many chances we created. In fact we dominated so much Martin didn't have a save to make and Toby was redundant as sweeper. Our goals were scored by myself 4, Gary Napier 3, (ending his goal drought and not hitting the bar once), Paul Bailey 2,Graham Donnelly 1, Neil Connelly 1, a Dave Power 'thunderbolt' and Dave Edwards who was set up by Graham (anything to stay in the First team).
The less said about my penalty miss the better.
I also did'nt think super-sub Dave Edwards read my pass down the wing 20 yards in front of him. I suggested a few more shuttles for Mr Edwards.
