An excellent result, through an all round team performance, against one of our closest rivals and the team that we pipped for third place in the league last season.
The opposition turned up in high spirits with rap music ringing from the visitors changing room- I'm thinking about taking further action for noise nuisance and will be looking for .••• eves! Toby has agreed to organise our pre-match motivating music and will bring some of his old Bay City Rollers tapes to the next game.
The game started with end to end action, keeping the fans entertained and using every inch of the superb pitch. Both teams created chances and Gary and Tant using their weight to cause havoc in their defence and with our back four playing well against a speedy front line. Martin was kept engaged in the action and made several first-class saves. Our first goal came just before half time when a defence splitting diagonal ball from Paul G., beat the offside trap was picked up by our attacking right back yet another penetrating run. He pulled the ball back and Des, no I think it was Gary slotted home.
More good pressure in the second half, although both sides missed good chances. Our second goal came from yet another good run from Gary (fed from a first time ball from that full back) and he crossed for Des Lindsay to finish decisively (I think that's right - I must pay more attention!). We got our shape and concentration and a third goal came from a Dave B. corner with a back spinning header from super sub Neil spun out of the keepers hands and into the back of the net.
All in all a good team performance, that could could take us up the league if we keep it up.
