Yes, it’s now official, league champions with an unbeaten record. You just can''t ask for anything more. The lads have had a magnificent season and deserve to be playing in the division above next year. I’m sure we’ll have some tougher times next season. However this was our chance to celebrate something and I’m sure everyone had a good day, it’s been a long time coming.
This is an opportunity to thank the players, supporters, people that have sponsored us financially and also Farnborough OBG who have made us feel extremely welcome and involved us from day one. Thanks to all of you.
The game itself seemed to be played in testimonial style, however we pummelled the opposition with our passing and crossing but only had a 1-0 half time lead to show for it. Fullone slotting home from a Wray corner.
Bridges made it 2-0 with a brilliant dipping volley.
AC Youth were struggling to stay with us and Lee Myatt latched onto a loose ball in their area to make it 3-0.
The sun was beating down (once again) and it was taking its toll on the opposition. Hunt scored the fourth with a lovely struck shot going in off the underside of the bar. It was no more than we deserved.
Dare I say, but the football almost came second today, compared to the occasion itself. There have been many times looking back over the season when you think just one particular game or incident may have won you the title, but there are so many. It’s a culmination of all those games and little incidents that go on that have got us there.
Darren is a very proud manager at the moment, now he must take stock of the season’s events and think about his plans for next season. I’m sure the team will do the ‘A’ division proud. We have built a great platform to go on from here, nothing is beyond this team and I think we’ll surprise a few teams next year as well.
Well done everybody, congratulations!
