Match Report

Another good win which moves us into a safe mid-table position with 4 games to play. As usual our large squad proved its worth and really shows the benefit of 14 players being available.
We kicked off and immediately took control with some excellent passing moves down either flank. Steve Pester who somehow made a good run opened the scoring from an acute angle and I thought we would then kick on and score more goals; however we suddenly started dithering in possession and choosing the wrong option even though there were always players available for the pass. This allowed Eden Park back in the game and shortly before half-time they equalised from a well delivered corner and a lack of concentration.
The second half was very similar to the first with Farnborough dominating but lacking a bit of quality in the final third. Against the run of play Eden Park took the lead and this woke us up. Changes were then made with Neil Con replacing a tiring ''J'' Parsfield and Adam Bennie replacing Andy Cob who had taken a knock. Jason who had a fine game through-out equalised with an angled drive, his first goal for 4 years apparently. The game appeared to be heading for a draw which would not had been a good result so in a last desperate (very desperate) throw of the dice the manager sent himself on. A good move down the left, the manager crossed and the Eden Park defender scored an own goal, to give us a deserved win.
So a very useful 3 points which we ground out in true Farnborough tradition. It wasn''t pretty but I would have settled for this result at the start of the game. Jason Miller got man of the match although Matti, Pester, Barry and Dan Head were also amongst the votes. Poverest away this week and I want another 3 points; if we get them it will be the highest the team has finished since we won the league 5 years ago, which would be a great achievement.
In a couple of weeks time we have Defiance at home (15th April, our last home game of season). Can everyone stick around for a couple of beers please?
