President's Charity Cup
4th round
By Paul Tanton
Our chance of cup glory came to an end at Lessa. For some reason we never play well at Lessa, something affects us mentally and our passing is always poor.
Our prepararion was spot on with most people there in plenty of time, all warming up and my mobile had hardly been in action all morning, this was in total contrast to Lessa who were struggling for a side. One of our main abilities this season has been our battling qualities and we have ground out results instead of playing ''sexy football''. Unfortunately this was to be Lessa''s day who basically out-Farnborough-ed us, battling for every ball, keeping good shape and forcing us into errors. For long periods of the game our passing, movement and talking was poor. At half time we were level at 0 - 0 but within 10 minutes of the restart we were 2 nil down. Only then did we wake up and up the tempo. Dawson pulled a goal back and we pressured the Lessa defence and could have snatched a draw forcing extra time. Unfortunately it was not to be.
Not enough big performances from the team except Sam Small who won man of the match by a mile.
Right the morbid bit out is of the way. We must lift ourselves as we have some important league games coming up and our record in all competitions is now only 2 defeats since the start of October which in my mind is fantastic. This week we have Centresports and we need that same spirit and commitment we had against Goldsmiths a few weeks ago.
