Match Report

I thought we played quite well and a lot of hard graft by everyone. With a bit of luck we would have taken maximum points.

With no game for most of the players the day before, everyone was fresh and up for it, despite the clock going forward which meant my phone was on meltdown. However this never affected any of the players (well done I''m surprised) but my co-management lived up to his nickname and missed the kick-off and most of the match (am not surprised).

I told the boys before kick off I expect everyone of them to score at least two goals as I had done this in the home fixture and if they didn''t, it would confirm what I had always known that I''m better than all of them. On a more serious note the game went something like this….

The first half we were by far the better side but several good chances were wasted and a blatant penalty was not awarded. Barry gave us the lead with a low shot after about half an hour. Our lead lasted about a minute, we failed to react to the loose ball and Valley scored with cheeky back-heeled goal. At half time we were well on top but were somehow drawing.

The second half Valley pushed forward more and were unlucky with a couple of chances including a great save by Mark Edwards. However we still looked dangerous and Dave Harrigan surged from deep to score what looked like the winner. Valley pushed forward but we looked like winners until 5 minutes to go when Valley equalised. Even then we had another couple of chances but we couldn''t take them.

Colin made a welcome return to the side and was man of the match after a couple of months decorating Chateau Judge, but several others picked up votes which is normally either a sign of a decent performance or everyone playing crap and not knowing who to vote for. I''d like to think this was a decent performance.

So yet another draw, I''ve just looked back and of the 6 games we have drawn, 5 of them we have been leading. This is the main reason we are in a relegation battle. We need to start killing teams off and be more ruthless with our finishing instead of over elaborating and trying to walk the ball in the net, just SHOOT; you never know it might bobble in the bottom corner!!!

This week we have Eltham Town away in what is another big game, if everyone’s ready and raring we can take maximum points.
