Our final outing of the season saw us away in Avery Hill playing the 10 men of Dresdner who are just a few places above us, but quite a few points better off.

Our plan was simple; win our final game, enjoy it and then look forward to the jolly up we had planned post match. We started brightly taking the game to the opposition and we dominated the first 45 minutes and were unfortunate to go in at 0-0. We created some good chances but just couldn''t find the back of the net, with Dan, Tant and Pete going closest. At the other end Mark Edwards had little to do, but when called upon made an excellent save when the striker went through one on one.

At half time Village replaced an injured Mark Doyle at centre back for what could possibly be his last appearance in Farnborough colours before he leaves for Australia at the start of next season. We started the second half as we had finished the first and were rewarded with a goal about 10 minutes after the restart. Dan Head was put through and he sidestepped the defender before slotting the ball under the onrushing goalkeeper.

After that we started to struggle and unfortunately lost Benni to a bad knee injury. After some desperate physio work from the ref and Danny, Mr Saines conceded that he was going to have to come on. Barry moved into centre mid with Dan Head dropping back to left midfield so Danny could go up front.

For the last twenty minutes Dresdner had more of the ball but never really looked like scoring, although their right winger made a desperate dive in the box late on that fortunately the referee didn''t buy.

So our season finished on a brightish note with a 1-0 win, although to be honest I think we all felt we should really have won a lot more comfortably and will need to be far more clinical in front of goal next season.

After the game we had a good turn out for a few beers at the club and in the Woodman, before entering O''Neill''s in Bromley and finally (and unfortunately) Jazzmins !!

On the whole the season has been very disappointing results wise, although the spirit of the team has never dropped and there''s definitely been a fair few laughs along the way. Hopefully everyone will be back next year and we should all make the effort to attend pre-season training to make sure we do a lot better next year, whatever league we end up in.
