Player ratings out of 10

GK - Gary Rosslee, 7.
Three very big important saves today, most notably a point blank save in the first half during a goal mouth melee! On another day maybe could have seen a red card for bringing down the Sanco forward when he felled him when confronted one on one (thankfully the ref was still in the centre circle)

LB - Neil Connelly, 7.
Another solid game seeing as he has had more time away than Charles Bronson!

CB - Rowan Foggitt, 9 MOM.
Ever reliable at the heart of defence, rarely looked in trouble and later deployed on midfield. Where does he find the constant energy and speed to run like for 90 minutes? (Especially with the rudder down!)

CB - Matt Wright, 6.
Endured a tough first half against the lively Sanco forward and made three cynical albeit not malicious challenges on him to save his team.

RB - Friendinho, 6.
Very frustrating game today by his own admission, If he was likened to a character from The Wizard of Oz………..?

LM - Ben Clunn, 4.
Didn’t fall scored and an effort rightfully chalked off by an amazing refereeing decision in the closing minutes!

CM - Jim St John, 6.
Not as imposing as his usual self, not one single chance on goal today compared to the usual five or six, although won the penalty that resulted in the equaliser.

CM - Dean Murphy, 7.
Made an excellent goal line clearance over the bar into the second half and run himself ragged all game!

RM - John Redmond, 8
Another energetic performance and always a good outlay on the right wing, put in some excellent crosses that should have led to at least a goal or two.

CF- Si Davies, 6.
Should have scored early on with a close range volley but the Sanco No 1 made an excellent save.

CF, Barry Grainger, 7.
Coolly converted the penalty to equalise in the first half

Subs

Dean Wyatt, 8.
Scored the decisive winner after the best move of the match and was a real menace in the centre of midfield after his inclusion as a second half sub.

Neil Pearce, 7.
Took one for the team at the death, rumour has it he just been offered a part in a Bee Gees cover band!

Andy Cobham, 7.
Replaced Matt Wright at centre back for second half and dealt well with the Sanco Forwards who had youth on their sides.

Match summary,
Today was a very hard fought victory for the Guild against a side they lost 1-3 against in the corresponding fixture this time last year. The neutrals in attendance (all four of them) will be wondering how there were only three goals scored in 90 minutes and it would even leave a genius like Albert Einstein scratching in his head in disarray as there could have been at least five goals apiece for either team but for some excellent goalkeeping either end and some resolute defending and not to mention some woeful finishing!

Next week we are at home again to Ditton Vets but at a revised time of 11:00 (I believe this is to allow them to find Farrow Fields)

Man of the match: Rowan Foggitt
