Metrogas avenge early season defeat
Player ratings out of 10
GK - Gary Rosslee, 6
Terrible kicking all game, pulled off vital one on one save in second half when the entire defence were at a standstill, maybe could have done better with second goal. Surprisingly very little to do all game.
LB - Matt Wright, 9 (MOM)
Made some vital tackles (mostly against Steve Grit) and always providing an outlay on the left, full of energy all game.
CB- Chris Rawley, 8
Worked his socks off and covered more area then he has probably done in the last 10 years. Excellent albeit dubious goal line block, pushing Rosslee for the #1 spot!
CB- Andy Cobham, 7
Another solid performance by Farnborough’s 3% body fat centre back.
RB- Neil Pearce, 7
Enjoyed a good first half, moved to right midfield second half and pulled his hammy!
LM- Paul Tanton, 6
Farnborough’s all-time leading marksman should have opened the scoring early on but had an effort easily saved by the Metrogas keeper!
CM- Jim St John, 7
Guilty of pointing fingers and blaming others but a solid midfield performance otherwise.
CM- Simon Davies, 6
Never looked comfortable in the centre of midfield (should have been played as a second striker). Guilty of hesitation when put through one on one allowing a Metrogas defender to make last ditch timely tackle.
CM- John Redmond, 7
Should have equalised in the second half, but was guilty of doing a ‘Clunn’!
RM- Ben Clunn, 4
Disguised himself as John Redmond late in second half, didn’t fall over this week!
CF- Pete Harvey, 6
Isolated all game, needed much better service and still clearly lacking match fitness.
Subs
Mark Friend, 7 (Joint MOM)
Made an excellent last ditch challenge that was enough to make the Metrogas forward miss from 10 yards out late on
Barry Grainger, 7
Nearly scored on a couple of occasions after the Metrogas keeper spilt his speculative efforts, worked on his suntan first half!
Match summary,
Clearly we were missing a few key players today, most notably in midfield.
Metrogas are a very good footballing side and we knew they were still reeling from the 1-7 reverse result from a few weeks back therefore would be looking for some sort of retribution. With that said Rosslee didn’t have much to do for the full 90 minutes which is a huge testament to the defence who were all outstanding today. But more frustratingly we seemed to lack that final pass today!
