The games are getting stranger
If I was to put what I really thought about today's game, I'm sure the league would find a way of extending my 600 game ban. So I won't.
Instead let's just run through the goals. Stu got the first with a lovely finish after 10 or so minutes and it looked like that would allow the flood gates to open. Unfortunately their number 10 had other ideas and whilst trying to "tackle" Lloyd, he decided to grab his mouth and try and force his fingers down his throat, Lloyd pushed him and got sent off, their bloke got a yellow.
Down to 10, we only managed two more before half time. Danny Godward getting his first goals on English soil for a few years. The first was a header, didn't know Dan could head it, so bonus. It could of been a first half hatrick and another headed goal, but unfortunately when the ball goes over the line by 5 foot it doesn't count as a goal. Dan's brace completed a great day for him. He'd had a good morning, twice; scored some goals and the bar at Meridian served "Tavern Snacks" crisps, they're the best ones apparently.
Second half was odd again. An inspired substitution, another unfair Red Card, and some strange defending.
We let Meridian score 3 goals, that's not great. But in fairness after Joe got his second yellow for not retaliating to their number 11, who was an odd little lad, playing with 9 was always gonna be difficult.
Lance Ahmed Zander Barnes came on at half time. To all our horrors he bagged a hatrick before we took him off in injury time to a standing ovation. The beard has hopefully been removed now. However after proving what an impact sub he can be another name can be added, Ole Gunnar Barnes. I was happiest with Al's second which was really, really lobby. His hatrick goal was a shinned volley that Lance insisted "... came off my foot"
The ref redeemed himself somewhat by blowing up for full time when Pat was clean through 1 on 1, very funny.
All in all a weird game, we've got this mob next week an all, if we keep 11 on the pitch then it's a chance to increase our goal difference and catch up with the top 2.
