Match Report
Saturday 2nd November 2013

A 90 minutes where it clicked!!
A long overdue performance where every one of the team played the way they can from start to finish. We have been grinding out results this season and playing well in patches but this week we completely overwhelmed opposition from the league above in the WKCCOCWPRWCCWK Cup.
It would be impossible to mention every good thing that happened in this match report, but it was the best I\'ve seen some people play for years.
We created numerous chances in the first half and if we had gone in 4 or 5 nil up it would have been fair. As it was we had to settle for just 1-0. Ad Ellson put a lovely through ball (I was genuinely shocked as Ad doesn\'t usually pass with such accuracy) and their keeper rushed out, missed the ball, and clattered Bill. Stu Lenton stepped up to convert a lovely pen. He is now on penalty duty, which will upset Ellis no end!!
The 90mph wind meant that we knew the second half would be a lot tougher. It wasn\'t though. We went 2-0 up through Ad Ellson early on in the second half. Bill played a lovely reverse pass and Ad, in his own words, smashed it into the keeper\'s leg, coz he could tell that the ball would hit the keeper, hit the post, and roll into the opposite corner. Very tempted to call it an OG.
A few minutes later it looked as though the oppo would get back into it, only for Stu Lenton to pull out a phenomenal last ditch tackle. The ball then broke to Georgie, who put Bill through on goal. Bill doesn\'t miss this season, 3-0.
Not long after we went 4-0 up. Bill with a great finish after some more nice build up play. Bill has got 7 in 8 this season, different class.
They scored a goal, we felt sorry for them so gifted them a consolation. No one was to blame, but it was Joe\'s fault.
Special mention to the whole side, which included 5 changes, a proper team performance.
The ref this week had fantastic banter. First by telling us Chelsea were 5-1 down at half time. Then signalling 2 points for a conversion when Ad skied a shot over. And finally for a brilliant running slanging match with their forward, which included the phrase \"If you tell me to shut up once more, I\'ll have ya\". Love that!
Their right back was faster than Linford, and I was a little worried for Rich at left back when he moved to right wing in the 2nd half. Luckily Rich had a plan which accumulated with him cutting the poor kid in half, picking up a booking and getting subbed.
The Dave Martin paragraph.
I love Dave, but he don\'t help himself sometimes. Starting in the changing room he leant over to me and said \"Do you want to hear a funny story?\" My answer, of course, was yes. It transpires that whilst having his pre-match shower Dave remembered he hadn\'t stretched and so put in an impromptu hammy stretch. In doing so he smashed his heel into the taps and cut it open. He ran the line, brilliantly, in the first half. When he came on it took him about 12 seconds to catch a stray elbow in his north and south resulting in a cut lip. He panicked and insisted he had to come off. Luckily Dr. Rich Pile (Dave\'s Spin partner) was on hand to patch him up and get him back on the pitch. He also had his Alice Band on, again.
We stole Ren\'s crisps after the game. Poor man was devastated.
MOM was a close one this week. Stu just pipping Joe to it. Both were outstanding, but it could\'ve been anyone. Stu didn\'t look too happy when we awarded it to him. It means you were the best player Stu, it\'s a good thing!!
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable game. We\'re in the quarter finals of 2 cups now. I don\'t think a treble is too much to ask for this season.
League next week, that\'s that thing we play in between cup games.
