Match Report

New kit. New tracksuits. And a lot of questions about coming all the way from Whitstable
What a truly awful game of football. At one point there were 3 passes strung together, I think.
Before the game we spoke about having to do the dirty stuff in games, which was lucky as this game was all about digging deep and battling through 90 atrocious minutes.
We were the better team throughout, but lacked a cutting edge early on. Stu Lenton broke the deadlock with a cracking diving header from Al Barnes\' cross. It was more of a floaty cross than a lobby one. Just before half time Stu Lenton hit a long free kick towards the keeper. He spilled it and the ball was trickling into the net. As we all celebrated and the oppo turned their backs it was only Ad Ellson who decided to watch the game and realise the ball hadn\'t gone in and tapped into an empty net.
The second half was poor from both sides. We were bombarded for 45 minutes with long balls. Try as we might we couldn\'t force a 3rd, even though Bill had an effort chalked off for offside (he wasn\'t off). We never looked like conceding all game.
Another valuable 3 points. 7 straight wins including friendlies and a clean sheet! Only 2 bookings this week, both of which were deserved.
Russ fell over when chasing a ball which made us all laugh. Their forward dived in the first half which was really pathetic.
Special mention to the ref who was one of the best we\'ve had in years.
We all went out in our new, squad numbered, tracksuits. We looked fantastic. The Crown in Chislehurst didn\'t know what had hit it.
Quite often Man of the Match is overlooked. It is a very important award as it is voted by the team. Everyone focusing to choose the person who gave the most for the team over 90 minutes. Sometimes it is close run. This week however was an exception.
So onwards and upwards and onto next week.
