Match Report

A short report this week, Keston arrived late at their own ground for kick off and began the game with 10 players. Any hopes that this match would be a less aggressive affair than the meeting a couple of weeks back when they had two players sent off for violent conduct and dissent were soon put to bed within 10 minutes of kick off. Luke was rugby tackled to the ground and despite no action being taken other than the free kick the tone was set. It wasn\'t long before the same player got his marching orders for a deliberate head butt having first fouled our man.

With Keston down to nine men expectaitons were raised but we never really got going. We struggled to keep possession and it\'s fair to say we looked second best. On a positive note our back four dealt well with most of Keston\'s attacks through the match and if they did get through Jez made a couple of very decent saves.

In the second half we still found it very hard to get any momentum going, and during a nervous period we found ourselves wide open on the right and Keston were gifted an easy path to goal for 1-0, Yellow cards and persistent moaning and niggling from our neighbours created an ill tempered atmosphere (caused largely by the original sending off). The goal did finally spur us into action and we started to put some pressure on the Keston players in midfield which resulted in a few chances and at last we began taking shots from around the box.

Our equaliser came from a corner from Tommy in a packed penalty area. Keston headed the ball to the edge of the box where Connor had taken up a dangerous position and hit the ball first time on the volley though the crowd and in for 1-1. In the last frantic few minutes both teams had chances to win the game but with the ref playing only 40 minutes each way for light there just wasn\'t time..Everybody in the squad managed to get a part of the game and Scott was awarded man of the match for another high energy showing.

We all want to wish Scott well for his operation this week on his ankle...and look forward to having him back in the New Year.
