(A hat-trick of wins)
A cup game that gave us an opportunity to try out another new system. We went for 3 5 2 and after an initial 15 minute period we settled in to it well with Michael, Matty and Richard looking more comfortable at the back as the game went on. We lost Bob the Builder (Gary Harrigan) when his back went (still trying to find it), so Danny came on and slotted in for him. We have beaten Eltham twice this season, and our third win over them was pretty resounding, as although they put 100% in to their games, our quality came through in the end, but maybe we can learn a little from them as their heads never went down and they played to the final whistle and that will get them points this season. Jamie was given Man of Match by his fellow players, but I think everyone, (taken in to account we have not tried this system before), contributed to a fine team performance, and with 3 good team goals finished off by Jamie, Liam and Adam and maybe could have and should have had a couple more.
I think Jumbo was pretty bored in goal, but the sign of a good goalie is when you''re not involved for a lot of the game, is good concentration and Jumbo showed that by having only one good save to make, and a few crosses to come and get. And that is giving the back 3 and team confidence knowing they have that quality behind them. Keep it up Jumbo - winning becomes habit lads, nice habit to have as well, we have Borough United on Saturday who are a similar side to Eltham, they will make us work for every header, tackle, goal etc, so we need the same attitude, effort and commitment on Saturday and if we do that I know we''ll be enjoying a beer on Saturday night with 3 points in the bag.
Keep up the good work.
