Match Report
Saturday 3rd October 2009

Saturday and Farnborough played their 1st game away from the home of football away to last season's runaway champions Blackheath. The Guild started well against the wind and were soon in the lead, a fantastic pass for Mikey Graham was converted by Dammo, a brilliant start and a brilliant finish. Things soon got better though, again Mikey Graham slinging the ball across, this time for Sam Evans to get there first, to toe poke home the second into the top corner.
From here we found ourselves under the cosh a bit and Blackheath forced their way back in with a somewhat fortunate goal. The ball was played across from their right and come off Ricky Simmons for the own goal. Georgie had no chance in goal but it was nothing more than unfortunate. The equaliser for Blackheath was a real peach. A somewhat fortunate free kick was awarded, their forward stuck it in the onion bag from 25 yards, what can you do with that?
2ND half and Blackheath started brightly, changing to 3 in the middle and it seemed like it was a matter of time before they scored. On 60 minutes they did just that…to be fair I can't remember how it went in, I was too fuming with the referee! Anyway though we reacted well - a ball in to Ben Slade just on as a sub and he made an instant impact slotting it across goal and beyond Ben Cooper in goal for Blackheath. Unfortunately though it wasn’t to be for us. The referee didn't blow in our favour when I was held back and they scored the winner as a result.
Anyway again we deserved something against a good side but we didn’t get it. Thankfully though we can play them again at our place.
