Match Report

A warm and sunny afternoon at Farnborough OBG see the 2nd string entertain New Park in what was the 2nd home game of the season.

New Park having been promoted with Farnborough last season into the league's top division started slowly but after 10 or so minutes it was the same old story for Farnborough as they went a goal down.

I wont say a bundle about either goal conceded in this fixture, firstly it''s probably counter productive, as a team we can all see the problems we've got and we need to go away and improve on these but probably most importantly is the fact it's now Tuesday which has given me 72 hours to digest this defeat on the beers. Thus I've forgotten much of the game hands up.

Anyway moving swiftly on; what I can remember is we had much the better of the game and the goal we scored was pretty tasty too. A long ball from the back from I believe Ricky Simmons, Barry Cleaver headed onwards and Michael Graham having timed his run well played the ball home to reduce the arrears with the weaker left foot. This got us back into to the game and to be fair we should've levelled, whilst we have to look to some of the defending as a reason for this defeat it could so easily been different had we taken our chances. Michael Graham shooting straight at the keeper in the first half having escaped the attentions of the last man and then a truly amazing miss a couple of minutes from time. I'm enjoying this...Damo on as a sub for Dan Head hit the initial shot well from a good 25 yards low, the keeper did well to push it on to the post, Farnborough's very own Emile Heskey tho picked up the rebound a full 6 yards from goal hit the strike first time only to see the keeper palm it away on the dive...Russell Netherscore indeed! But that's not it, the ball had of course found its way to Barry Cleaver on the penalty spot, the goal gaping but the ball was spooned over the bar!

Pretty unbelievable to be honest but in a way summed the day up, the better side for much of the game, with the key moments going against us.
