The Vets this week welcomed the Veterans from the valleys called Welsh Tavern Vets all the way from Horton Kirby. It was their first visit to the Farnborough Fortress that Mr Keddle has made so secure. In the dressing room we ranted that the away defeat to this mob was unjust and that we were a better team player for player. What a waste of breath that was.... Gary bit about in goal, confirmed he would''nt need a cap as the sun wasn''t shining. But blindness overcame him for their goal as Colin slipped a hospital ball to their big man in midfield and they promptly had a four on one situation and scored.
Farnborough continued with single passes to the opposition for the rest of the half. Toby Harlow seemed cool as he delivered the team talk at half-time of "no one is bigger than the Club and that 100% is needed". The Vets responded with 60% which meant Ian Coles getting injured and missing most of the second half waiting for bucket boy Mark James to deliver the water!
Minutes went by and unlike a year ago the Vets got stronger. Colesy collapsed injured recieving treatment which gave us an extra minute on the clock.
Last minute corner, Ebdon still in position from the last corner 12 minutes ago, spun it in, off Harlow''s back, Berbatov swivel, clinical volley top corner ?? One all!
The oppo said after that this was the best place they have played at and long may that continue. More corned beef sandwiches!!
