Match Report
Sunday 23rd November 2008
President's Charity Cup
2nd round
By Vince Wray
This match was played in awful conditions, the morning began with a sprinkling of snow and windchill producing negative temperatures, thereafter the game was played in freezing driving rain. However that wasn’t enough to dampen our spirits as we basically ran riot and dismantled the opposition who rarely posed a real threat to us.
I genuinely do not remember how all the goals were scored but obviously do remember who scored them. This was an encouraging team performance and was a vast improvement on our previous form and the scoreline could have been greater in our favour had it not been for some unfortunate finishing and fortuitous defending. However scoring seven goals is not to be sniffed at and it will certainly remind us of what we are capable of. We led 3-1 at half time and built on this in the 2nd half and dominated in the cold, muddy conditions.
Goalscorers were: Webb 3, Georgeson 2, Wray and Hussein.
We play the same team this Sunday in the league so must guard against over-confidence and put some league points back on the board. Let’s have some more of the same this week lads. Well played!
