Why we are still playing in the middle of May only the League Fixture Secretary can answer, this Sunday''s weather was far too hot for football.

Again we were let down with last minute drop-outs which seems to be a far too familiar story the last couple of seasons. I must admit that I was massively fl**ked off before the game on Sunday morning. However due to our youngsters who I think will play next season we were able to fill the gaps. After ringing round several Farnborough players, Darren got us a keeper, which was also one of the youngsters.

Des Fallon cheered me up with a story of an interesting injury he picked up on Saturday night and driving to the game in my car, Sam commented that that there was dog sh*te in the back of my car. What he didn''t tell me is his shoe was covered in it. Thanks Sammy I''ll be sending you the bill for the car cleaning. I bet Alex Ferguson never had such an interesting journey to Wigan as I had to Badgers Sports.

Games against Goldsmiths can often be interesting and I always think they provide players with an excellent test as for many years they have been a very good side, and for the youngsters this was definitely a step up but the most pleasing thing was they didn''t look overawed and played their normal football, very comfortable in possession and always looking to pass it.

Kicking uphill first half, Goldsmiths had the majority of the ball but we looked dangerous going forward, with Jamie, Sammy, Bobby and young Alex Wray all going close. Despite being 2 nil down at half time we were looking strong with heat sapping everyone''s legs.

The 2nd half was again much of the same with Goldsmiths scoring early but then we took over the game, Dan Head scoring an excellent header from a good Jamie corner and Jay Hardy scoring a penalty after a foul in the box. we also had several other good chances but we conceded a 4th goal against the run of play as we finished the game with 8 players under 25 (4 of those were 16). Another day and we might have snatched a win.

I thought our controlled passing was very good, always looking for the simple pass and trying to play one-twos around the Goldsmiths full-backs. I was extremely pleased with the way the team had played and Darren must be thinking he has the makings of a strong squad for next season.

We have Lessa at home to play on Sunday in what will be my last game in charge and the end of era in the top league of the Orpington & Bromley before Darren & Vince take over. It would be good to end the season on a high. It would be nice if we can get some support up the club and have a couple of beers afterwards (coca-cola/lemonade for the youngsters!!!).
