Match Report
Sunday 16th September 2007

Basically we got hammered 6 nil because of defensive errors and unavailability, but the scoreline didn''t reflect the result as we more than matched them in the first half and were 1-0 down and competing very well for the majority of the first half, restricting Centresports to mainly pot-shots but with us looking dangerous when we went forward. This was until just before half time when a defender who shall remain nameless blatantly fouled their very good centre forward for an obvious penalty.
The second half again we started brightly but ran out of steam in the last 20 mins when Centresports scored 4 more goals. Shame really because if we had taken a couple of our chances it might have been a different 2nd half. We just needed a bit more quality in the final third of the pitch and someone to put the ball in the net.
The good news is, the attitude was excellent and we have suddenly acquired a couple of younger players. A certain Dave Harrigan back from the wilderness, Gary Harrigan, Lee Brackell and Bobby Moulson and hopefully won''t get too despondent by the result as Centresports are a quality outfit.
Something of interest this week, on one of the other pitches at YMCA were several ex-players playing for Mickey Mouse FC were comfortably beating a crack Girl Guides XI while the real men were playing and losing against a proper football team. Also at the same ground were Bradshaw and Parsfield helping Chelsfield ''Fat'' Boys snatch a draw from a game they were winning comfortably. All very amusing!!
Moving forward we need more availability and a few more experienced players to come back. The players missing were Dawson (hopefully back this week), Daragh (injured ankle due to a tackle on Saturday which was so late it finished on Sunday, somehow only worth a yellow card, out for 2 months), Miller (two-bob bits), Wright (injured ankle should be back soon), PG (injured back hopefully be back soon), Connolly (injured, I suspect long-term), Tanton (back injury, basically pitches are to hard at the moment, am praying for rain this week), Dan Ford (injured shoulder should be back soon). Hopefully a few these will be available this week.
