After a couple of wobbly early season performances the boys managed to get the wheels back on the Sunday team bus in style against Vista who had won their previous three league games.

The day started with the news that Tant had fractured his shoulder in a freak bondage incident and may not play again until January, and this left Village having more managerial responsibility than ever before as he had to carry both buckets, the medical kit and the warm up jumpers from the car park to the changing room, with Tant assuming responsibility for the management biro, and Daragh being responsible for warming up Judgie''s suspect groin.

For the first time this year we were able to play Ginger Dave, Judgie and Ray together in midfield with Daragh as their decoy. Having these players (with the obvious exception of Daragh) is really the key to how we play as they are all fit, comfortable with the ball, and look to break forward at every opportunity which is ideal on a Sunday morning, particularly when you have a back four with a combined age of well into three figures which includes a twenty two year old.

To be honest the scoreline does not flatter us as this was as good a team performance as I can remember with everyone playing for each other, with the result being we scored some fantastic goals and managed to keep a clean sheet for the first time in ages.

1st Goal – Awesome Dawson rounds the last defender, rounds the goalie, rounds the last defender again!!!, then stops, pulls his socks up and rolls the ball into an empty net.

2nd Goal – good strike from 20 yards from Ray into the bottom corner.

3rd Goal – Ginger Dave fires home after a great team move which amazingly involved a series of backheels.

4th Goal – Ray strikes again from close range after Matty the Muffin''s shot is saved.

5th Goal – Ray completes his hat trick after good work from Brother Barry.

6th Goal – Awesome hits a first time half volley from 12 yards after a great crossfield pass from Ray.

7th Goal – Awesome hat trick – see description for goal no.1.

One of the plus points form Sunday is that player availability was excellent which is a credit to all the boys after a couple of poor early season performances and with a couple of home games to come we have a chance to move up the league if we can maintain this spirit and level of performance.

Back at the club Daragh cooled down Judgie''s suspect groin, Tant tried to sell his golf holiday in Portugal to anyone that would listen (we leave on November 3rd if anyone fancies it), the Chuckle brothers argued about who was the man of the match, Adam Benny arranged to meet the barmaid from the Daylight for lunch, Shaun waited for his mobile phone to come back in a cab from Heathrow (Shaun you owe me £10 for your phone''s cab fare!!) and Village tried to remember what day it was and whether we had won or lost!! All in all a textbook Sunday morning.
