Within a matter of minutes The Buff had taken the lead after some confusion down the right between the defence, this led to Rosslee being dragged out and then easily rounded for The Buff to slot the ball home into an open goal 0-1 Buff.

They say lightning doesn’t strike twice in the same place, on this occasion it struck thrice; moments after The Buff then doubled their lead and again courtesy of some poor defending, Grant Gable this time the guilty party after his swing and a miss let in The Buff to score from close range 0-2. Two then became three as again The Buff were presented with way too far an easy opportunity to grab another goal without reply. 0-3.

Sandwiched in between the three goals were a few smart saves from Rosslee in the Farnborough goal to keep the scores at an almost respectable scoreline, the pick of the bunch coming from a ferocious Barry Grainger drive that he somehow turned over the bar from 8 yards out. Alas three then became four and again some sloppy play was Farnborough’s downfall. Half time Farnborough trailed 0-4.

Whatever was said at half time certainly seem to kick start Farnborough and “awaken them from the dead” as they grabbed a couple of replies in quick succession one courtesy of Rich Davies from the penalty spot after Pete Harvey had been mauled in the box by The Buff number one and then Tony Simpson was on hand to poke one home unmarked in the box to inspire a Farnborough comeback. 2-4 Buff.

Word was making its way back to the ground that the betting scene in the UAE was going ballistic as bookies were now refusing to take any further bets on an OBG 5-4 victory but with that said The Buff nicked another goal this time Barry Grainger having all the time in the world to go round Richard Davies (more than the once) and tuck the ball past a despairing Rosslee. 2-5 The Buff.

Richard Davies was on hand to score another penalty to give a further glimmer of hope but that was until Rosslee in the OBG’s goal made a complete howler with what seemed a harmless free kick out on the left to let The Buff to put the final “nail in the coffin”. Rod blew for full time and the score was 3-6 to The Buff.

Today the Buff were more than up for a spot of ‘trick and treating’ but it was Farnborough who ended up with eggs on their faces!!

Next week we have a cup match at home against Cray Wanderers Vets, lets just hope we can exorcise today’s demons and put this one down as just a bad nightmare.

Our thanks to Rod Loe for refereeing the game at very short notice.
