NEWS

Welcome Cameron!

Josh Eastwood and Cameron
Congratulations to First XI player Josh Eastwood and girlfriend Rowena on the birth of Cameron, on Wednesday 21 August, weighing in at 6lb 80z.

Josh's company J.R.E. is the First XI team sponsor.

New Club Captain

Matt FrenchThe club would like to welcome Matt French who has accepted the post of Club Captain after Luke Johnson stepped aside at the AGM. We thank LJ for his short term as Club Captain, but circumstances in becoming the First XI manager meant that he could no longer hold the position. Previous Club Captain include Paul Parsons, Colin Judge, and Alex Barnes.

Having moved from the First XI into the Saturday Vets XI Matt was the perfect choice and we thank him for accepting the offer. He has also played for the Saturday Seconds, Thirds, and Fourths over previous seasons.

Good luck in your new role Matt.

Nanny Smith's Deli

The club would like to thank local business Nanny Smith’s Deli for becoming the new supplier of the Vets food on a Saturday and Sunday, and we thank Saturday Vets manager Ben Tomkins for brokering the deal.

To date, Rose has supplied ‘Platters of Joy’ for the Vets home team and their opponents. And very well they have gone down indeed with compliments from all away teams every week, along with the Guild Vets players.

Nanny Smiths Deli are also Club sponsors, who proudly support our Under 12s junior side.

FOBG Last Man Standing

Craig Ralph SnrThank you to all club members who joined up for the first game and supported the club!!

After a nail biting and somewhat hilarious final Saturday (sorry Liverpool and Brighton backers), we can reveal that Craig Ralph Snr romped home with a £192 payout when Aston Villa beat Everton 3-2 in the evening kick off.

Congratulations Craig and thank you for supporting the club.

The next game will begin for the matches over the weekend of 28/29 September.

Weekend Round-up: 14/15 September

The season is now in full flow with a packed scedule last weekend.

The First XI made the short trip to the John Cooper Ground to take on Bromleians Reserves in the league and came away with another 4-1 win. Stanley Mills (2) and Danny Taylor-Wood got their first goals for the club and Elliot Anderson maintained his record of scoring in every game this season.

The Second XI rued missed chances and sloppy defending (a lethal combination!) as they slipped to a 2-1 home league defeat against AFC Bethwin. Jamie Allen found the net.

The Saturday Vets got their first points in Division 3 with a 7-0 win away to Hoo Veterans Red. Gary Harrigan got his account off with a hat-trick as Shaun Cross grabbed a brace and Joe Slater, Pete Kavanagh got one each.

The Sunday XI got a point away to FC Elmstead in a 2-2 draw. Mason Horne and Dave Bentley were on target.

The Sunday Second XI drew 1-1 with Hartford Athletic in Group A of the Peter Smith Memorial Cup. A big improvement on the 5-0 defeat at the hands of the same opposition in the league a couple of weeks back. Joe Head got the goal for Dan Penn's team.

Both Vets teams were involved in 3-2 scorelines. The Red Vets finished winners at home to AFC Greenwich Vets with goals from Adam Chapman, Kieran McWilliam and Steve Shippey

The Yellow Vets took only 11 players to face a strong Wickham Park Vets side and played with great credit in their 3-2 defeat. Player/manager George Kleanthous said "Considering we had a bare 11 and we picked up an injury early on we fought back brilliantly to come from 0-2 at half-time to almost grab a result. We hit the crossbar in the last minute and a draw would have really been deserved.". Kypros Michael and Jay Hardy scored the goals for the Guild.

The Under 14s bounced back from their opening day defeat with a 3-0 home league win against Lewisham Borough Community. Harrys Lauder and Field were on the scoresheet, as was Zachary Pescatore who opened his account for FOBG.

The Under 12s, Under 9s and Under 8s teams all began their season and had very enjoyable days.

What a Debut!

Bronum Reynolds made his debut for FOBG, coming on as substitute in the First XI's 4-1 win against Greenwich All Stars on Saturday 7 September and announced himself with this superb goal. Will there be a better one at Farrow Fields this season?
