Ditton they do well! (as Brucie would say)

Player ratings out of 10

GK - Gary Rosslee, 5.
Not his best of games, costly error for the 3rd goal that lead to a nervy final 20 minutes for Farnborough with the scores at 4-3!

Mark Friend, 7.
Should have scored from a free header direct from a corner in first half. Got clattered by Rosslee in build up to the 3rd Ditton goal.

CB - Rowan Foggitt, 9 (Joint MOM).
As reliable as ever, solid for 90 minutes and somehow still finds those bursts of energy with a minute or to go!

Andy Cobham, 6
Scored an Own goal to give Ditton some light at the end of the tunnel at 3-1 down!

RB – Brett Cheesman, 7.
Steady return to action after several games out with injury, almost set up a Farnborough goal with a deft free kick into the box but Grainger failed to hit the target!

LM - Ben Clunge, 4.
Didn’t score, didn’t fall over, and didn’t go Millwall on Saturday!

CM – Dean Wyatt, 7.
Got Jim St John blamed for what the Ditton player deemed a “bad tackle” was hoping to continue his fine goal scoring run of form but it was not to be today!

CM - Dean Murphy, 8.
Excellent vision for the Farnborough equaliser slotting home first time after the keeper made a hash of his clearance from 35 yards out.

RM - John Redmond, 7
Like a Duracell bunny in Red and Yellow up and down the right hand side all game!

CF- Si Davies, 8.
Best game in an OBG shirt for a long time, scored a very good finish and set up one for Barry Grainger.

CF, Barry Grainger, 9. (Joint MOM)
Chipped in with a brace both goals showing great composure especially the second as he neatly lobbed the oncoming Ditton Goalkeeper, probably should have ended up with at least a minimum 3 today!

Subs

Jim St John, 7.
Lunged in with some good and not so good tackles in the second half, was on hand to set up Grainger for his second with a well-directed header from the Ditton goal kick.

Peter Harvey, 7.
Had a good game down the left side of midfield and enjoyed a few runs with the ball but still lacking match fitness! Got a new job though after just the 7 interviews!!

Matt Wright, 7.
Brought in at left back second half and enjoyed a solid game.

Paul Tanton, 6.
Had another chance to add to his all-time top scorer record but failed to hit the target and turned down the opportunity to go and work for Deloitte!

Match summary,

Today’s very tight score line should not have been a fair reflection on the match. We made harder work than we really needed to against a plucky Ditton side. We were hit early on with a sucker punch for the Ditton opener which was a well taken first time effort from some 8-10 yards out but we should have scored at least 5 goals by half time. We gifted Ditton all 3 goals down to individual errors or lapses in concentration. Not taking anything away from Ditton who were apparently almost completely different team to the one we beat 0-5 down at their place a month or so ago. Barry Grainger scored a couple of well taken goals and Dean Murphy and Rowan Foggitt both enjoyed another solid match but surely but them in contention for player of the season at such an early stage. Again the management did well to try to keep everybody happy with a run out and at several stages of the match the Farnborough team was around 40% different personnel at times!

However another win goes down in the record books and we have now amassed a whopping 37 goals in 9 games so we are actually 1 goal better off compared to where we were this time last season so perhaps we can break our record of 105 goals in a season?

Man of the match: Rowan Foggitt and Barry Grainger
