Another excellent performance saw us eventually run out comfortable winners after a difficult first half on a hot Downham day.
We started brightly and Godward capitalised on a defensive error to finish coolly for 1-0. More chances followed although none of which were taken. At the other end Clarkson ever alert made an outstanding save on the one occasion he was called upon. After half time we looked a different side and dominated possession, creating chance after chance. Ahmed made it 2-0 before good work from Ellis saw him eventually upended in the box and Ahmed slotted in the penalty for his second. The scoring was finished off in emphatic fashion when captain Johnson floated a 30 yard free kick which the keeper failed to deal with, pushing it on to the bar only for it to bounce down, hit him and go in. No chance was it an own goal apparently!
