G-Ray-t Perkins Hatrick Seals Win for Impressive Guild

A fantastic summer's evening down at Warbank Sports saw the Guild run riot for 60 minutes and notch up seven goals despite going behind twice. An early strike by the big Holmesdale centre forward who has first team experience put the Guild behind only for Hughes to beat the offside trap and finish confidently past the on-rushing Holmesdale keeper. After 15 minutes Holmesdale struck again through the big fella upfront who got between defender and keeper to nod home. At this point, we realised we had to step up and improve and we duly obliged. Perkins then took the game by the throat and ran the Dalers ragged scoring one of the coolest and quickest hat-tricks you will see and also hitting the post in the process. On three separate occasions Perkins picked up the ball from deep and after numerous passes, going past players and one-two’s managed to knock up a sublime hat-trick.

In the second half we just took total control of the game. After 15 minutes, a great run and strike by the tricky and pacy Wray saw his shot spilled and head goalbound before Williams L quite rightly followed it up and finished from a yard out. 10 minutes later and Williams L struck again with a great lob-volley and Cooke finished things off with a near post header after a great ball into the box from Wray (or was it Stevens?). 7-2 it finished.

Overall it was a convincing performance and we never let up. The pace, movement and finishing was top notch and it's another game under our belts. We are really starting to gel on and off the field and everyone is looking forward to the season starting. Defensively, we looked a little shaky to start, but learnt well from our early mistakes and more than redeemed ourselves in the last hour, looking composed and controlled. Perkins in the middle was outstanding and the movement was fluid and we kept going and going across the full ninety.

Lots and lots of positives today, let's bring this forward to Saturday which will be a tougher test.
